I'm not a runner, by any stretch of the imagination. (Most people could tell just by looking at me... my body frame is not that of a runner.) But there is a simple truth that most runners know.
The truth is that when you run, you should look ahead to the goal. Most people, when they start running, tend to run looking at the ground. The problem with this is that you aren't looking where you are going. This truth is true with driving as well. You tend to drive where you are looking as well.
As a Christian and a pastor, focus is sometimes difficult. It seems to be extremely difficult right now. Some of you may know we are in the midst of a building program here at the church. In fact, we hope to be done with this building come the beginning of August. But this is creating a lack of focus here at the church. Not here for long... Not quite there...
Remembering Paul's words to the church in Philippi... "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:14. Paul was focused on the goal. I would do well to remember this verse.
