So... recently some folks in my church and one of my high school juniors journeyed to Kenya. It was an amazing trip... You can check it out HERE and HERE.
Tomorrow morning (July 20th), the Olers are going to be updated FVCC as to the trip, showing some pictures and telling some stories. I can't wait. It will be great.
Then on August 3rd, they are having an open house at their place from 2-5 pm. That will be a fun time to hear some more stories and see some more pictures. (I'm just glad they picked Aug 3rd... I'm out of town the 27th.)
Can't wait!!!

The Olers check in from Kenya
I have been eagerly watching my Google Reader for the next check in from the Olers in Africa. This morning, there were two updates. (If you don't know, we've got a family Kevin and Sandy Oler and their high school daughter who are visiting our missionaries in Kenya. And they are posting some of their thoughts and stories to two blogs.)
HERE's Sandy's blog and HERE's Paige's blog.
Both updates are great and I won't steal their thunder. But I just have to put a snipet of Paige's blog in here. She's so funny. She writes just like she talks: "so we we were heading to our tent camp and we stopped to take pictures at this very beautiful spot and there were tons of zebras and eland then mrs. crum said u guys can go chase them! that sounded like a supper idea. so we climbed out the back and Rachel and i just stood there for a while then we sprinted at them. they strated running and then we stoped and rachel pointed at the eland that was like 2 times the size of the others and a regular eland weights aboutg a ton!"

The Olers made it to London...
The Olers have made it to London...
They left yesterday and I've been eagerly watching Google reader for updates. Finally, two cam through this afternoon. Check out Sandy's thoughts... then check out Paige's... Paige's are way better (no offense Sandy!), but that's Paige. She can tell a story well.
Praying for these guys!!

Olers heading to Africa... Tomorrow!!!
I'm trying to give some dedicated prayer time today (every time my watch chimes a new hour) for the Olers. They are a family from our church that is leaving TOMORROW for Nairobi, Kenya, Africa.
It will be an incredible and lifechanging experience for them.
I'm really looking forward to the blog posts HERE and HERE. (The second of the two blogs is by one of our students... a high school junior Paige.)
Pray for them today if you think about it. They leave tomorrow afternoon at 5 pm, with a stop in London and then on to Kenya.

Olers getting ready for Africa!!!
But is Africa ready for the Olers???
Sunday, we honored and prayed for a family who is headed to Kenya, Africa in a few days. Kevin, Sandy and Paige (and high school junior from our group) are preparing to take on the adventure of a lifetime. (I know, I've been to Africa once and can't wait to go again... I went to South Africa and Mozambique in 2001.)
This morning, Sandy blogged (the Olers have a blog HERE and Paige has a blog of her own HERE) about getting ready and heading out to buy a video camera today. Check out her latest thoughts HERE.
I'm looking forward to the pictures and the stories when they get back!!
