2 Kittens on a blanket...

I just thought I'd share a cute picture of our two cats... Zelda (left) and Zoe (right). I was making the bed this morning and they were sleeping on the blanket. So I got their attention to grab this picture. Just thought I'd share.

Zelda on the printer...

Our cats go crazy when we print.

Tonight I was doing a little work for school... actually I was doing a punch of work... when I got done, I hit print on the 13 page piece that I was working on. Zelda came flying through the boxes in the apartment, onto the desk and on top of the printer to watch the pages come out.

I have no idea what fascinates them... but something does. They always come running.

A Small Group lesson writing helper!!

I've got a couple of meeting today. So I'm going to be making several runs to Starbucks... as that's where the meetings are.

So I decided this morning that I would do a little writing at home. When I got all settled in our den at the apartment, I looked over on the desk next to me and discovered a little helper.

Just thought I'd share.

Zelda and the blinds...

Our cats... Zelda and Zoe... have this weird and funny habit of wanting to have a clear view outside. So, they will jump onto the chair, bed, desk or whatever is in front of the window, then use their paw to pull the blinds down so they can see out.

This is Zelda illustrating for you.

Funny cats!!

My little helper...

I sat down this afternoon to write the final small group lesson for this school year for this week. (The one project that I didn't get done last week before the weekend.)

So I grabbed my Bible and my laptop and proceeded to get down to work, only to find that Zelda wanted to help. More than likely, she only wanted to lay on the Bible. (She has an affection for laying on papers and books.) She made it almost impossible to work.

I think she just wanted her picture taken. Once I did, she moved on. So funny!

Zoe checks out her new litter box...

Zoe checks out her new litter box.

Jackie and I have just about had it with Zoe and Zelda's litter box. They use it so frequently that it is constantly dirty. So we broke down and bought an automatic litter box that cleans itself.

We put it together, we set it up, Zoe jumped in to check out and decided to take a nap.

I like things that work on their own. I'm hoping that this solves our consistently dirty litter box problem. But as I wrap up this blog post, I'm wondering why you need to know all this...

help from one of my cats...

I'm really going to be glad when this paper is done... and I think my cats will be too. I grabbed the last cup of "Breakfast Blend" this morning, pulled up a chair to work on my paper... this is the last day for reading, the writing starts tomorrow night after High Voltage.

Zoe, one of our kittens... who is now more like a 6.5 pound cat... decided to help. So she climbed into my lap, laid down, I snapped this picture, then she proceeded to being a bath.

I'll be glad when this thing is done... Saturday... Sunday... and Monday... 3 days...

Zelda and Zoe...

We've had these guys for a little over a month. Tonight, they were hanging out on the couch waiting for me to get home from my walk. But the funny thing is, when we first got them, we would have to pick them up to see who was who. But now, looking at this picture, I can totally tell the difference: Zelda is on the left and Zoe is on the right.

Funny.

But I liked this picture so I thought I would share it.

Zoe getting a drink

Tonight at dinner, Jackie had water... which isn't anything usual because she always has water. In fact, and this is totally off the point, but it's been (and it took her a few minutes to count the days), 4 1/2 years since my wife has had soda. But she often doesn't drink all of her water. Well, tonight, Zoe decided that she would help her by having a drink.

Silly kitty.

Our cats are crazy...

So...

We've had Zoe and Zelda for about two weeks now. And I've noticed something unusual about them. We (my wife and I) both have laptops. And since we are in school and often working on schoolwork at the same time, we have our printer set up at home for wireless printing. Which is great!!! It's awesome to be able to sit on the couch and send a document to print without getting up, carrying the laptop into the den, plugging in and then waiting for the print (I know, I'm lazy... but get over it).

But I've noticed something about our cats. And I just noticed this again because it just happened... and it happens every time... every time they hear the printer engage to print, they both take off tearing through the apartment and dive onto the desk to see "the magical machine that makes noise and spits out paper" (I'm assuming that in their little cat-brains that's what they are thinking). But it's hilarious.

In fact over the weekend, Zoe jumped from so far out from the desk where the printer is at and she obviously forgot about not having front claws (which she doesn't), that she went flying into the window and almost fell behind the desk.

It's an usual trait... maybe I'll try to get it on video sometime and upload it to YouTube or something. Oh the humor of having two kittens in the house...

Kittens for a week!!!

We've had the kittens for a whole week!!!

It's hard for us to imagine the apartment without these two little furballs running around, playing, getting into things and onto the table. But it's only been a week.

But it's been a great week.
Especially with cute moments like these (Zoe is hanging out in her little, red bed).

Fun with Zelda and Zoe

Zelda and Zoe arrived home this afternoon.

We picked them up around 11 am this morning. They have been a pretty constance source of entertainment around here this afternoon.

Right off the bat, they love the new laser pointer that we picked up last night. Here they are trying to catch it.

Zoe seems to have a little meerkat in them. Zoe likes the fish tank too. Earlier she took a little "trip" onto the treadmill as she tried to get closer to the fish tank.

We even managed to grab an "All Family Nap" this afternoon. Zelda seemed to enjoy it the most. She spent most of her nap upside down and purring.

They are pretty crazy. They lay down for about 5 minutes and then they want to go exploring or they want to play. They don't know what do with themselves.

And just in case you're wondering, it's very difficult to tell them apart. Zelda has a little white patch of furr under her chin. Zoe has a little patch of white furr... but it's further down. That's the only way to tell. It's tough.

They seem to be making themselves at home.
