Last night I became an uncle!!!
My little sister and brother-in-law brought little Michal Allie Scott into the world at 10:28 pm. She was 6 pounds even and about 17 inches long (I'm not sure why the length is important... but oh well). Her name comes from 1 Samuel 18 where King Saul gave his daughter Michal to soon to be king David in marriage. (I have to be careful... I keep wanting to type Michael (like my dad's name) and not Michal (like my niece's name).
The birth was 2 weeks early. My sister went in for a doctor's appointment and they discovered that her blood pressure was high. So they put her in the hospital and decided to induce labor, which they did around 1 or 2 in the afternoon. Then Michal arrived last night at 10:30 pm.
Both mom and baby are doing fine. From all reports I've heard, my brother-in-law is a little stressed. But he's kind of a wimp. He'll toughen up sooner or later.
But I thought I should post a few thoughts about this important day... I'm an uncle! And the cool uncle at that!!!

Congratulations Jim (and of course your sister and B-I-L). Michal is beautiful and her name is beautiful as well. Love her to death - you can't give too much love!
