"Reign Over Me"
Jackie and I watched this movie last night. It's called "Reign Over Me" with Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle. (Here's the trailer in case you've never heard of it before.)
It's not a typical Adam Sandler movie. Usually Adam Sandler movies are filled with stupidity, dumb jokes and no plot. I like them, but that's usually the style.
This movie was different. It took a bit to get started, but once it did, it was quite good. Language is a problem from time to time (it is rated "R" for language) and the language is often unneeded.
Overall, though, I thought it was a powerful movie. It was a powerful movie of someone who saw a problem in someone else's life and refused to give up on that person even though the other tries repeatedly push him away. In a sense, it's a pretty passionate movie about what youth ministry is all about. Alan Johnson (Don Cheadle) hangs in there with Charlie Fineman (Adam Sandler) through some pretty tough stuff and helps him out.
It was a pretty decent movie with a good message. Definitely recommend it. But hang with it for the first 45 minutes, it's a little slow.

Adam Sandler is classic in his own way, though he tends to do his best work when he stays casual, not trying too hard to be funny or deep, etc.
